No. 01  ·  The House of Hale

A small atelier in Sumbawa turning teak into objects worth keeping.

Hand-finished. Slow. Quietly assured. Each piece carries the patience of grain that took decades to ripen and hands that take days to release it.

No. 02The House of Hale

A house built slowly, like the wood it works.

Hale began with a single bench in a Sumbawa workshop. Three brothers, one teacher, and a shared insistence that good wood is not hurried.

A decade on, the rule still holds. We mill, dry, plane, and finish at the same pace as the trees that gave us the timber — slowly, deliberately, and with respect.

No. 04The Collection

Four families.
One language of grain.

Cutting boards, serving boards, bowls, and trays — each shaped to a single quiet idea: the table is where a house remembers itself.

No. 05 · Hero Object

A board that remembers
every dinner.

The piece we made first, and have refined every year since. End-grain teak, hand-edged in beeswax and lemon oil, balanced for a real cleaver.

No. 06The Idea

"A good board is not furniture. It is a witness — to a thousand quiet meals, and the hands that made them."

— the workshop motto

It took us a decade to write a sentence that short. Everything in this house is in service of it.
